The elegant cup is the result of ripe cherry selection from heirloom Ethiopia tree varieties growing at over 6,000 feet above sea level, careful wet processing after de-pulping, then sun-drying on raised beds.

Founded in 1969, the Sidama co-op, located at over 1,900 masl in the Aleta Wondo Woreda distrcit of the Sidama Zone, is now 3,900 members strong. In conjunction with The Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (essentially a cooperative of cooperatives), the members of Homacho Waeno have used the social and quality investment portion of their fair trade prices to help bring basic utilities and improved roads into their communities. The greater SCFCU is composed of 46 cooperatives, totaling over 80,000 members, making it the second largest coffee union in Ethiopia.
